Lindenmere’s
All Choice Program
It’s all about choice. Your choice! TOTAL CHOICE! Lindenmere’s program is on the cutting edge of summer camping. Campers work with their counselors and specialty staff to select the activities they want and love. With Lindenmere’s focus on choice, campers have an opportunity to explore in-depth the activities they feel they will enjoy and participate alongside campers with similar interests. This makes each and every day challenging, unique and fun.
Where to First?
How it Works
Lindenmere campers choose all of their activities. Campers choose both Majors and Minors to construct their perfect day. With over 50+ activities to choose from and a team of dedicated specialty staff, we ensure the success and growth of all campers.
In a traditional camping setting, campers often participate in pre-selected activities with just the kids in their bunk. By choosing their own activities, campers quickly meet many other campers that share similar interests, while also forming strong bonds with their bunkmates. This helps our campers develop higher numbers of friendships and creates a strong atmosphere of community.
Our counselors are equally invested in our All-Choice program. They know that each camper has chosen to be in their activity area, and our counselors enjoy teaching campers who are looking to achieve their goals, and mentor them in their respective activities throughout their time at camp.
Majors
Each child chooses three Majors before the beginning of each session and goes to these activities on a daily basis. Majors are instructional and goal oriented. We have found that some campers will get to camp and try a new activity as a Major and fall in love with it. If this happens, our campers can change their Major with our Programming Team.
Minors
Campers choose three Minors daily before Breakfast. A Minor Sheet is passed around by their counselors for campers to fill out. Campers participate in their Minors that afternoon. The Minors will allow our campers the utmost control in creating what they want to do. Minors give campers a chance to venture into new activity areas, learn new skills, and see all that Lindenmere has to offer! Our Department Heads develop Minors to be focused on specific areas of that activity in order to enhance and nurture specific skills for campers ranging in various skill levels.
Youngest Campers
For our youngest campers, General Counselors are hired to help guide them throughout each day. The counselors are chosen based upon their nurturing nature and patience. Throughout the day, our general counselors will be checking in on their campers to make sure they are enjoying their schedule, friends, and experience at Lindenmere! Leadership Training
Campers entering 11th grade are eligible to participate in our LT program. This program is designed to develop future camp leaders within our community and at home, too. There are many special aspects to the program that our campers look forward to as they get older. Some of these include: a multi-overnight LT trip, a big brother/sister program, optional SAT tutoring, on the job counselor training in their favorite activity areas, and much more. LT’s will still live in a bunk with other campers their age during the summer.
